Landslide affected Wayanad 

Dear brother and sister in Christ,

We, Love and Compassion Trust, are a registered NGO under the government of India with FCRA certification to do social work and church planting ministry. We have been working in the neighbour state of Tamilnadu for more than 28 years focusing on poor children education primarily but also do we have a long history of responding to natural disasters with necessary help and relief work.

We are actually seeking for grant to do relief work with the Indian State of Kerala, where a disastrous landslide took place lately in the district of Wayanad, killing over 300 and many have gone missing. And we are eager to extend our hands in help to the families who have lost their loved ones and everything else.

The Need:
During the early hours of 30th July 2024, heavy rains triggered multiple landslides took place in 6 neighbouring villages in district of Wayanad in the Sound Indian State, Kerala. 400+ people have lost their lives, 250+ injured severely and 100+ have been reported as missing.

The emergency rescue team of the state and union government have been doing their best to retrieve missing people among the muddy infrastructure debris and flooded areas.

The Solution:
Since this event has turned out to be an uncommon and deadly disaster taking the lives of many hundreds, we have planned to respond to the situation with medical help, blankets, water bottles, packed foods, etc. which have proved to be essentials and the need of the hour.

Though this little relief work won't equate to the loss they have faced, we believe that if we could help them with the littlest of needs, it will add up greatly and would mean a lot to them and that along with prayers they'll be able to recover soon from this traumatic event.

The Budget:
Estimated quote for buying the essentials for the number of people listed as affected would average around €2,5000 Euro

With allocated fund, we would purchase medical kits, blankets, water bottles, and prepare packed foods from our place and transport them through mini trucks or vans, to the disaster camps and distribute them. We would also send a valid report of the recieved grant and how it had been spent to best achieve whats planned.
 
In the future, if this project turns out successful, we are also looking forward to come up with another project to build shelters and generate job opportunities for the same affected people.
